How do you create a user in VCM?
- Enroll the new user:
a. From the main menu toolbar, select Setup > Practice > Users > New
b. In the Users dialog box, find the user using the search box, highlight their name, select a User Type from the drop-down, then press Register New User - Map the user’s VistA account to their new VCM account
What is a VistA Admin Security key?
Also known as a DSIQ VCM Admin security key, it’s a key that, when attached to a user’s New Person file, grants full administrator rights and access in VCM.
Who should have a VistA Admin Security key?
IT users, sometimes members of COTS, should be the only ones with the VistA Admin Security key.
What is the VistA Secondary menu option?
The VistA Secondary menu option is a key that, when attached to a user’s New Person file, enables logging into VCM.
Who should have the VistA Secondary menu option?
Users who want a VCM login created must have the DSIQ VCM Secondary menu option on their VistA New Person file. If they don’t have it, they’ll receive an error when logging into VCM.
What is a Treatment Plan?
A treatment plan is a schedule of chemotherapy drugs and supporting medication for a patient, which is dynamically adjusted based on patient metrics and labs.
What are Preferences for?
Preferences are global settings that allow for full customization of VCM to mirror the VA site’s individual Business Rules.
Who can change Preferences?

For VCM to properly communicate orders to VistA, VCM drug files must be mapped to VistA drug files. If the corresponding VCM drug doesn’t exist, you have to add it to the VCM drug file before mapping it.

An ADPAC is a clinician who is also a VistA expert and maintains specific VistA files.
What are the parts on the VCM main screen?
- Main menu toolbar

- Working Patient List - a list of recently opened patient records
- Cosigners Queue - a list of patients whose orders have been sent to the signed-in user or group for review or signature
