What is a threatened miscarriage?
Threatened miscarriage = uterine bleeding with or without contractions, without cervical dilatation. Can continue as a normal pregnancy or progress to inevitable miscarriage
What is inevitable miscarriage?
Inevitable miscarriage = uterine bleeding and contractions with cervical dilatation. Miscarriage in progress. Can progress to complete or incomplete miscarriage
What is incomplete miscarriage?
Incomplete miscarriage = a miscarriage in which not all products of conception have been expelled, with persistent bleeding and/or uterine contractions and a dilated cervix
What is a complete miscarriage?
Complete miscarriage = a miscarriage in which all products of conception have been expelled, bleeding and uterine constractions ceased and the cervix is closed
What is a missed miscarriage?
Missed miscarriage = fetal demise (often diagnosed during routine pregnancy USS) without the presence of uterine contractions or bleeding and with a closed cervix
