What is the Significant Pelvic Diameters?

Ischial Tuberosity
sitz bones - the sitting bones - marks the lateral boundary of the pelvic outlet

most common, 90 degree pubic arch, fetal head engages in transverse or OA
Platypelloid Pelvis
not common at all; very wide pubic arch > 90 degrees; not good for vagina birth
Anthropoid Pelvis
inlet is oval; wedge shape - difficult vaginal birth. Ischial spine usually prominent

pubic arch 80 degress; ischial spine are prominent; labor engage in transverse w/failure of rotation
Midpelvis
is the bulk of the pelvic structure; baby has to descent & rotate to be born
