1+: Slight pitting that disappears rapidly
2: Deeper pit that disappears in 10-15 seconds
3+: Noticeably deep pit that lasts more than a minute; dependent extremity is full and swollen.
4+: Very deep pit that lasts 2-5 minutes, dependent extremity is distorted.
