Misc. Flashcards
Waste is…
Waste is work that causes additional costs but creates no added value
The objective is to increase the proportion of value-adding activities by eliminating waste and accompanying activities
Value-adding activity
Work that – from the point of view of the customer – directly increases the value of the product (e.g. assembly of parts.) That’s what the customer pays for.
Non-value creation
Work that does not create direct benefits for the customer, but which is necessary in order to keep operations running (e.g. setting up the machine)
The magic triangle has 3 contradictory goals
Costs- 100% value creation in all processes
Quality- Zero faults
Deliveries- One-piece flow in sequence of customer requirements in a very short time
