NaSSA
- Noradrenergic and serotonin specific antidepressant
- Alpha-2 adrenoreceptor agonist and facilitates NA and 5HT release

What is mirtazapine licensed to treat?
A
- Major depression (3rd line treatment)
- Treatment resistant depression (in combo with SSRI / venlafaxine)
- PTSD
- Panic disorder

What known side effects does mirtazapine have?
A
-Increased appetite, weight gain
-Drowsiness, headache
-Oedema
-Nausea and sexual dysfunction (uncommon)

What is the recommended dose of mirtazapine?
A
15-30mg daily initially
Can increase up to 45mg
