Chronic peptic ulcer disease with renal insufficiency
MA labs?
Hypercalcemia w/o hypercalciuria or hypophosphatemia
normal Alk Phos
azotemia
mild alkalosis
M-A Radiologically?
Unilat/Bilat periarticular Ca deposits
Widespread calcification in BV, kidneys, ligaments, falx cerebri
osseous tissue is normal
When do Sx appear in MA?
Within days of starting treatment, average 1 week
MA Sx?
Nausea, vomiting, anorexia, weakness, HA, dizziness
Who gets MA?
Middle-aged men who are ingesting milk and CaCarbonate, or CaCarbonate alone, for abdominal pain and heartburn.
Classic triad of MA syndrome?
Hypercalcemia, alkalosis, renal impairment
Periarticular calcific deposits DDX?
Collagen vascular disorders HPT ROD HVD Tumoral Calcinosis
