Q

Explain “Glorification of War”. How did this concept get created?

A

A ROMANTIC NOTION of what war is i.e.
Fighting for your country and a strong feeling of pride was a result of Nationalism. Stories of what war was like was the only thing most people knew about war. These stories were only positive and ideal and promoted glory and heroism so it made people want to join and be a part of it.

Q

Why might a strong Navy force be especially important to England?

A

Since the British Empire was so large, they were always concerned about protecting the entire Empire. A strong Navy would enable them to protect larger areas by blocking any force trying to attack a colony by sea. The Navy protected British Interests.

Q

Why were alliances created?

A

Because if a country created an alliance, they were stronger because the military resources of that country were available to be used as well. It also helped insure that the country that they had an alliance with would support their interests and not attack them. No European country wanted to fight a war by themselves.
