there was a teacher in one room and a learner in another. the teacher would say some words and the learner would repeat them back. due to the learner being apart of the study they would get it wrong on purpose. the teacher was then asked to ‘shock’ the patient. this carried on until either the voltage was maxed out or the teacher refused.

when on the phone 20.5% obeyed
when two people refuse as well only 10% obeyed
when someone else did the shock 92.5 % obeyed
