Ash wanted to see if group pressure would effect groups tasks with an obvious answer. there was 8 people, 1 was being tested and the rest purposely answered with the same wrong answer.

there was 3 lines next to each other with different lengths and a line labelled ‘x’. you simply just had to match the line ‘x’ with one off the lines that was very simple.

on average 36.8 % answered incorrectly. 75% of participants conformed at least once. 25% didn’t conform at all.

even in unambigous situations there is strong group pressure to conform. especially if there is unanimous majority
