Multiplier effect (concept)
The process by which a new or expanding economic activity in an area creates additional employment as its employees have money to spend on goods and services.
As the wealth of an area increases it stimulates more economic activity.
Remittances
money or goods that migrants send back to families and friends in origin countries.
Brain Drain
The emigration of highly trained or qualified people from a particular country.
Refugee
A person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war or persecution or natural disaster.
Asylum Seeker
A person who leaves their country and seeks protection from persecution.

The existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within a society.

The hypothetical connection between two places, through which people may or may not migrate.
Population Change
The difference in the size of a population between the end and the beginning of a given time period.
Circular Migration
A repetition of legal migration by the same person between two or more countries.
Assimilation
The process through which individuals and groups of differing heritages acquire the basic habits, attitudes, and mode of life of an embracing culture

People who must leave their homes and communities because of the effects of climate change and global warming.
Interdependence
The dependence of two or more people or things on each other.

A term used to describe how trade and technology have made the world into a more connected and interdependent place.
