Do asylum seekers have to eek refugee status in the first safe country they arrive in

A

No, 1951 Geneva (or Refugee) convention does not state this. However the Dublin Regulation for Europe states that assylum should be sought in the first safe country. And refugees can be returned to their country of entry if they travel further.
