What is migration
Migration is the movement of people from one place or region to another.
types of migrations
migration, emigration, immigration, international migration, return migration, internal migration and rural to urban migration
emigration
When a person moves from their place of residence to another for numbers of reasons

When someone leaves his country to go to another
internal migration
when people move from a place to place within a country
rural to urban migration
when people leave rural areas to go to urban areas
external migration
moving to a different state, country or continent
why do people migrate?
to get away from things they do not like. these are called push factors
people are attracted to things they do like. these are called pull factors
reasons for push factors
war crime and violence poor education limited or no jobs lack of basic infrastructure low salaries limited or no recreational facilities lack of technologies
reasons for pull factors
availability of jobs technologic advancements good education high wages availability of recreational facilities low crime rates political stabilities proper infrastructure
positive consequences of migration
new skills are introduced into the labour force
creation of multicultural society
readily available labour force
negative consequences of migration on the receiving country
greater pressure on the resources of the country
greater pressure on the social services of the country
social resentment towards the newly arrived
changes in the country’s sex and age structure
