Q

What are the two main considerations in training and conditioning?

A

Metabolic: Energy systems (engine)
Mechanical: Neuromuscular (chassis and wheels)

Q

Describe Aerobic Threshold(5)

A
  • Mostly aerobic, but not solely.
  • Low PO compared to other systems
  • Made for Long duration
  • Below VO2 Max
  • Continuous Activity (45 min)

Q

Describe Good Cycling Technique/Position (5)

A
  • Leg extension@ 97%
  • Knee Cap over pedal spinal when @ 3 O’clock
  • 45 degree angle of torso
  • “Scrape mud off your shoe” at bottom of the pedal stroke
  • “Cycle through it”

Q

Describe Good Running technique/position (6)

A
  • Good running is reactive (stretch shortening cycle)
  • Elbows at 90 degrees or less and never cross centre of body
  • “Shorten Contact time”
  • Foot contact under centre of gravity
  • Requires torso activation
  • Back leg swing = passive movement

Q

According to Billat(2001) how does Short VO2 max intervals spare glycogen and utilize fat better? But what is crucial to make sure this happens(role of recovery)?

A
  • Lets the PCr system cover the O2 deficit (instead of glycolysis
  • Utilizes O2 bound to myoglobin
  • NEED enough recovery time to allow these two factors to recover (30 sec minimum)
