CONFIRM: Crank/Apprehension Test (anterior), Sulcus Sign (inferior), or Push-Pull (posterior)
> can add Jobe Relocation test, verbalize Rockwood modification
RULE OUT: Active Compression of O’Brien (SLAP lesion)
Adhesive Capsulitis
CONFIRM: pROM (scapulohumeral rhythm, CPR ER > ABD > IR)
RULE OUT: Infraspinatus Test OR Whipple Test
Shoulder Impingement
CONFIRM: Hawkins-Kennedy
RULE OUT: Speed’s
Subacromial Bursitis
CONFIRM: Empty Can Test OR pROM (passive range of motion)
Painful Arc Test (pain between 60-120* - after 120* compression on supraspinatus and the subacromial bursa decreases
> this also rules out adhesive capsulitis
> pain at 170-180* may indicate AC lesion
RULE OUT: Paxinos Sign
> Speed’s & Empty Can Test would both elicit pain with subacromial bursitis, too!
Acromioclavicular Sprain/Injury
CONFIRM: Paxinos Sign
RULE OUT: Empty Can (supraspinatus tendinopathy)
Biceps tendinitis
CONFIRM: Speed’s Test
RULE OUT: Yergason’s Test OR Empty Can
Transverse humeral ligament sprain
CONFIRM: Yergason’s test
RULE OUT: Speed’s test
Rotator cuff strain
CONFIRM: Whipple Test

CONFIRM: Golfer’s elbow test (passive) then add active component to confirm
RULE OUT: Valgus instability test
Lateral epicondylitis
CONFIRM: Cozen’s or Mill’s test
RULE OUT: Varus instability test
Ulnar/radial lateral collateral ligament sprains
CONFIRM: Valgus or varus instability tests
RULE OUT: Cozen’s or Golfer’s elbow tests
