17
Q

What is the main disadvantage of the primary irrigant?

A

cytotoxicity

18
Q

What is the purpose of obturation?

A

prevention of the reinfection of the root canal system that has been chemo-mechanically disinfected

19
Q

Name and compare 2 methods of obturation and compare them? (6 marks)

A

Warm Vertical Compaction

advantages: single homogenous mass of obturation material, 3D obturation of the space, better filing of the lateral canals and irregularities.
disadvantages: difficulty in length control, possible increase of fracture risk with plugger compaction

Lateral Compaction: advantages: technically simple, does not require additional equipment.
disadvantages: non homogenous mass, increased sealer presence, increased possibility of leakage

20
Q

What are the standardized k file lengths? (3 marks)

A

21mm, 25mm, 31mm

21
Q

calculate the d5 for a 25.04 file? (4 marks)

A

25 is file so… 0.25+5(0.04) = 0.45 mm
