At least once a year at the time of their wellness appointment
Why can we not provide an accurate dental estimate during a consult?
We can’t see disease under the gum line until patients are anesthetized/ can’t say how long extractions will take the Vet

What are the disadvantages to mobile vet services?
More expensive (paying for travel time)/ limited procedures can be done/ difficult to schedule/ limited people to help carry and restrain/ inconvenient if supplies are forgotten/ increased risk of theft
What are some things can be discovered during a consult that can alter the surgery plan?
Deciduous teeth still present/ umbilical hernias/ heat cycle has started (canine)/ cryptorchid (unilateral/bilateral)/ infection/ abnormal bloodwork

Why is a pre-surgical consult necessary?
Checks for overall health issues/ Vet can tailor their approach to meet specific patient needs/ prevents miscommunication/ builds trusting relationship with owner and patient
What is the definition of euthanasia, and what is the Greek translation?
The hastening of death of a patient to prevent further suffering
Eu – good, Thanatos - death

Denial – disbelief, shock
Anger – rooted in fear
Bargaining – try to buy more time

What are steps we must take to ensure euthanasia appointments run smoothly?
Get client into room right away/ have paperwork ready to go/ notify team of their arrival/ determine COR options and memento’s they would like/ complete billing prior to procedure/ explain the process of the procedure/ confirm contact info so we can call them when remains arrive
What are 3 types of euthanasia
-Behavioral/Convenience
-Medical - imminent (emergent)
-Medical - non-imminent (poor prognosis)
