Metzenbaum Scissors - For cutting and dissecting delicate tissues

Iris Scissors - For fine delicate work, usually opthalmic surgery.

Wire-cutting Scissors

Littauer Scissors - Suture removal scissors

Operating Scissors - Used for cutting suture and drape material

Mayo Scissors - For cutting and dissecting dense tissue such as connective tissue

Lister Bandage Scissors - Used to cut under the bandage without puncturing the patients skin

Brown-Adson Tissue Forceps - Multiple fine intermeshing teeth on the edge of the tips
Toothed Tips

Adson Tissue Forceps - For handling dense tissue, such as in skin closures

Brown-Adson Tissue Forceps - Multiple fine intermeshing teeth on the edge of the tips
Serrations but no teeth

Dressing Forceps - Used for handling dressing material. Can cause significant damage to viable tissues
Singular tooth

Rat Tooth Forceps - To grasp skin and dense tissue. Used when suturing.

Allis Tissue Forceps - Intermeshing teeth that ensure a secure grip. Holds with maximum power, causing trauma.

Babcock Tissue Forceps - Similar to the Allis but with no gripping teeth(no/minimal trauma)

Doyen Intestinal Forceps - Long and flexible, curved or straight blades useful for holding bowel

Forester Sponge Holding Forceps - To handle sterile dressings(gauze). Ability to reach far into body cavity

Backhaus Towel Clamps - To secure drapes to a patient’s skin by means of small puncture

Roeder Towel Forceps - Towel clamp variation. Metal balls prevent deep punctures and prevent drape from sliding. Used a lot in large animal.

Lorna Clamps - Non-perforating serrated tips used to secure equipment such as suction lines and cautery cords to the drape
Perforating

Jones Towel Clamp - Keeps towels or drapes stationary during surgery

Halstead Mosquito Forceps - To clamp and control small capillary bleeders.

Hartman Mosquito Forceps - To clamp or occlude small vessels. Sometimes referred to as a “mosquito”. Smallest hemostat that has a box lock
Grooves only on top half of the jaws

Kelly Forceps - To occlude small to medium-sized vessels.
Grooves run along the whole length of the jaw

Crile Forceps - To occlude small to medium-sized vessels
