Midrange Storage Solutions Design: Site Evaluation & Remediation Flashcards
When does site evaluation occur?
initiated in the presales phase when sales team decides a new system is supported in production environment
What are the three steps of site evaluation?
site data collection
data analysis
remediation
What is site data collection?
gather data from site using appropriate discovery from ESXi and other hosts
What is data analysis?
once data is gathered its uploaded to a data analysis tool - reports generated to show operability
What is remediation?
if data analysis shows interoperability issues remediation is needed - prevents problems after new storage is installed
What is the Grab Tool?
automates the collection of configuration data
What is the Environment Collection Tool (ECT)?
automates execution of Grab and generation of reports for operatiability
also downloads results of Windows systems analysis
What is the My Work Tool?
entity centric view of the customer environment - allows you to share workspace with others and generate reports
What are the types of reports that My Work generates?
Environmental - interoperability, migration readiness
Entity-Specific - switch/unity/powerstore config
Non-Dell product - Netapp/HDS
What is CLI for SAN Switches?
data gathered using CLI commands from switches
What is the native CLI command for Brocade switches?
supportshow
What is the native CLI command for Cisco switches?
show tech-support details
What is the native CLI command for McData switches?
show all
What is a common tool used for data analysis?
Live Optics - analyze workload performance and opportunities
What tool is typically used in the site remediation phase?
CloudIQ - used for centralized monitoring/troubleshooting
