The Black Death
The bubonic plague; killed millions of people (about 1/3 of populations); erased whole villages; lack of people/workers meant pay was better
Hundred Year War
A war between France and England over a piece of land controlled by England near French territory; in the end France won but both sides experience man and money losses
The great schism/the avignon papacy
due to french wanted control of the church, there ends up with three popes at one time, but they eventually die/retire and are replaced by one single pope
The war of roses
a civil war in England, the Yorks win and Henry Tudor (the seventh) wins and starts the Tudor dynasty
Flagellants
punishing yourself, commonly through whipping; especially used to send of sin to prevent the black plague
Magna Carta
document signed by King John of England that gave the nobles some rights proved that a king rule was not absolute
