Midbrain Flashcards
What are the Ears of Mickey Mouse?
-Cerebral Peduncles which connect the cerebral hemispheres to the midbrain specifically, they contain descending motor fibres from the motor cortex down to the midbrain then to the corticospinal tract.
What are the Eyes of Mickey Mouse?
-Red Nucleus (appears red in fresh brain)
What are the Eyebrow of Mickey Mouse?
-Substantia Nigra
What are the Tears of Mickey Mouse?
- Medial Lemniscus which is part of the dorsal column system
- Spinothalmic Fibres
What is the Mouth of Mickey Mouse?
-Cerebral Aqueduct
What is Surrounding the mouth of Mickey Mouse?
-Peri aqueduct grey matter
What is the nose of Mickey Mouse?
- Oculomotor Nucleus which contain cell bodies of lower motor neurons whose axons are going to travel in the oculomotor nerve to move the eyeballs. Tendrils eminating are fibres of Cranial Nerve 3.
- Edinger Westphal Nucleus which contains cell bodies of parasympathetic neurons which travel through CNIII to control the pupils
What is the Double Chin of Mickey Mouse?
-Superior colliculus which control reflex actions related to the visual system
