Ch 2 Confirmation: | Chrism
Greek for "anointing". A consecrated mix of olive oil and balsam (spices), signifying the gift of the Holy Spirit, which has been blessed by a Bishop and is used in the administration of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders.

Chrism Mass
The Mass at which a bishop consecrates the Sacred Chrism (mixture of oil and balsam) and blesses the Oil of Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick, to be used for liturgical anointings. It is also when the Bishop blesses all of the Chrism, oil, that is going to be given out to all of the parishes in the diocese that the Bishop oversees. In MD, the Chrism Mass takes place at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. It takes place ONCE a year.
