Matter of the Sacrament (Baptism):
water, oil, candle, and white garment
The Door to spiritual life-
Door to God and grace -
Door to other Sacraments-
Door to our Journey to Heaven
It’s the cornerstone or foundation stone.
Necessities
- Godparents, at least one must be Catholic
- Parents’ desire for their child to be Baptized
- Parents’ commitment to raise their child in the Catholic Faith.
- Water
- For adults, a desire to grow in the Faith and to receive other sacraments.
Baptism is . . .
washing, regeneration, renewal, enlightenment, anointing, Gift . . .Seal, clothing
OT Types of Baptism
1.Noah and the Flood- in the story of Noah, water is the means by which God brings about a cleansing of the earth.

2.The Crossing of the Red Sea to Freedom
3.The Crossing of the Jordan River, 40 years after Crossing the Red Sea.

Trinitarian:

Minister . . .
Deacon or Priest OR anyone where there is danger of death.
Why is Baptism necessary?
- We are assured into the CHANCE of the entry into eternal life
- The Door to receiving God’s grace
- To help us seek the TRUTH.
- To help us do God’s will.
- Our cooperation with God’s gift of grace.
- Renewal=chance
- Enlightenment = to know God better; the power of the Holy Spirit
- Anointing = to be made Sacred
- We are clothed with immortality
