Microscopy Flashcards
1
Q
What is a microscope designed to do
A
Magnify small objects so they appear larger
2
Q
What is the definition of magnification
A
How many times larger the image is than the object
3
Q
What is the difference between a light microscope and an electron microscope
A
Electron microscopes use electrons instead of light to form an image. They have a higher magnification than light microscopes and a higher resolution which gives a sharper image.
Light microscopes let us see individual cells and large sub cellular structures like nuclei.
4
Q
What is the formula to calculate magnification
A
Magnification= image of size divided by real size
