Parliament and taxation
Still used taxation under pretence of war
eg £100,000 for war with France

Still collected Clerical Tenths from Church
1472-75 was paid £48,000
Benevolences
Changed benevolence, removed repayments and used punishments in exchange for grants and titles
Collected nearly £22,000 with this method
Royal lands
Old method but changed
Retained more crown lands than previous Kings
Exploited land more and took more tax from them
Crown land profits went to King’s Chamber not exchequer
Edward had more access to funds-> annual income from crown lands was £30,000
Custom dues
Still collected but Edward attempted to collect more
Encouraged trade, paid customs collectors more, annual average £34,000
Overall
Edward died solvent, no massive debt
Suggests good job of dealing with economic problems
