Methods:
- deductive logic (applying a generalization)
- inductive logic (facts, examples, authoritative witnesses/sources, compare & contrast, cause & effect)

- appeals to emotion (“you should believe me because of the way I make you feel”)
Methods:
- emotionally loaded detail + diction
- use of figurative language (imagery)
- effective sentence structure to convey emotion
- appeals to: pity, humour, flattery, force (threats), anger, sadness
