What is a scaling ladder?
It was used to scale the walls of a castle. However climbing ladder could be dangerous.
What is a trebuchet?
A trebuchet is a very powerful slingshot. It could be used to fire things like rocks at castle walls. Sometimes even dead animals into the castle to spread disease.
What is the siege tower?
Siege towers were designed to be taller than castle walls allowing archers to shoot down at the enemy.
What is a mangonel?
A type of catapult. It was a lighter version of the trebuchet but had a shorter range.
What does a battering ram do?
A battering ram was useful since the weight of several men behind it in an effort to destroy the castle.
What does a ballista do?
A ballista is a large crossbow device which fries large bolts at the enemy. These could be used for attacking and defending a castle.
What tactic involved digging under the castle walls as a way of entering the castle or setting fire to the walls underneath them.
Undermining a castle or tunnelling.
