Provisional (PROV) TAF:
Indicates that the designated issuing authority did not issue the forecast.
May be due to the airport or the designated MET office not issuing a forecast or the forecast is missing.
PIREPS.
Flight crew are required to report any:
Hazardous flight conditions to the appropriate ATC facility without delay.
PIREP hazards to be reported:
- Met conditions
- Geophysical events
- Security breaches
- Wildlife
- Facilities and infrastructures
- Aircraft performance
- Lasers
- Other (unmanned balloons, crashed aircraft, ELT broadcast).
It is acceptable to use one High Level Significant Weather chart:
For a multi sector flight.
Is a significant weather chart required for dispatch?
No.
In the event of a typhoon affecting Hong Kong, inbound crews should be updated:
By ACARS at least once every hour.
This message should include:
- The current operational status of the airport.
- Weather information.
- Preferred diversion ports.
Should operations at Hong Kong be suspended due to a typhoon, the company will nominate airports as preferred diversion ports based on:
- Typhoon track and local weather.
- Ground handling and engineering support.
- Traffic congestion.
