Define Meta-ethics
Fundamental questions about the meaning of ethics and the maning of god and bad, right and wrong.
Moral realism
the beile that right and wrong do not objectively exist independately from the mind - they are real properties
Cognitivism
The belief that moral staements are subject to being either true or false - they are meaningful.
non-cognitivism
The belief that moral statement are not subject to true or falsity - meaningless
Naturalism
moral values can be correctly defined by observation of the natural world
intuitionism
Moral truth are indefinable and self-evident. The ‘good’ cannot be defined, it s intuitively known
Emotivism
moral statements are not statements of fact, but indicators of emotinal states
naturalist fallacy
criticm of naturalism that we cannot assume that jusr because something is natural it must be good.
What is good accoridng to Naturalism?
Good is what is natural. known by looking at nature.
What is good according to intuitionism
Good is a simple notion that is known by intuition.
