5 principles

A
  • assume capacity= unless you can prove otherwise
  • maximise capacity= always support the person to make decisions
    Tell them the pros and cons and leave it to them
  • unwise decisions= don’t always mean lack of capacity
  • any decisions made must be in the person’s best interests
  • decisions must be the least restrictive options
