11
Q

What does LH cause?

A
  1. Production of oestrogen, required for ovulation and thickening of the endometrium
  2. Conversion of the Graafian follicle in the progesterone producing corpus luteum
  3. Progesterone causes the endometrium to become receptive to implantation of a fertilised ovum

Q

What does progesterone do?

16
Q

What happens to GNRH, FSH and LH in pregnancy?

A

They remain inhibited, causing cessation of menstruation

17
Q

How many days does the corpus luteum last

A

14 days

18
Q

How many days does the secretory phase last?

A

14 days (as long as corpus luteum lasts)

19
Q

What does the corpus luteum produce and why?

A

Progesterone, to support a pregnancy
