How long does the flow phase take?
Days 1-4
What occurs during the flow phase?
Follicle starts to develop
Shedding portions of the endometrium -> blood and tissue moves out of the body
The level of increase or decrease of the hormones during the flow phase is?
(4 hormones)
Large increase in FSH
Small increase in LH
Small increase in estrogen
No progesterone
How long is the follicular phase?
Days # 4-14
What occurs during the follicular phase? (3)
Follicles develop and move to the edge of the endometrium layer Granulosa cells (nurse cells) multiply (mitosis) Oogonium is going trough the first division of meiosis
The level of increase or decrease of the hormones during the follicular phase is?
(4 hormones)
Decrease in FSH
Increase in LH
Increase in Estrogen
Small increase (near the end) progesterone
How long is ovulation?
Days # 14-15
What occurs during ovulation?
Secondary oocyte bursts out of the ovary
The corpus luteum forms
How long is the luteal phase?
Days # 15-28
What occurs during the luteal phase?
The corpus luteum is on the side of the ovary
Should die in days 24-25
