Roughly 28 days
What day does stage one start on what happens?
Stage one : starts on the first day and lasts for roughly 2-7 days - if the egg is not fertilised, the lining is not needed for a baby. So the uterus lining starts to shed marking the first day of the period.
What day does stage two start on and what happens?
Stage 2 : starts on day 6-10 - the lining regrows. The lining of the woman’s uterus starts to regrow for if she becomes pregnant, it’s made a spongy tissue.
What date is stage three start on and what happens?
Stage 3 : day 10-14 - ovulation. The end of the women’s period. Another egg is released from the ovary waiting to be fertilised in the fallopian-tube/oviduct.
What day does stage four start on and what happens?
Stage 4 : day 15-28 - lining thickens. The uterus lining starts to get thicker for the potential pregnancy. If the uterus lining is not needed it sheds beginning the cycle again.
What are the four hormones?
Follicle stimulating hormone - causes the maturation of the egg
Oestrogen - maintaining the uterus lining
L H - stimulates the release of the egg
Progesterone - maintaining the uterus lining
