The acrosome at the tip of the sperm contain enzymes to help breakthrough many layers of the egg to reach the egg’s nucleus and fertilise it to produce an offspring.

What is the journey of a sperm that it has to take to enter the egg?
First the sperm enter the uterus through the cervix, 1% make it through. Next they must swim through the uterus to reach the oviduct, only 20 sperm make it. They may need to wait here for more than 5days for the egg to be released.
