Meninges Flashcards
Meninges (three layers)
outer layer: duramater
-endosteal layer
-meningeal layer
Middle layer: arachnoid mater (avascular)
Innermost layer: pia mater
The dural folds divide the cranial cavity. They include the fall cerebri, and tentoroium cerebellii, they are formed by the meningeal layer of dura matter.
Cranial Duramater - Meningeal layer of duramater- modified to form folds
- Falx cerebri- Attaches Ant to the crest gaily (ethmoid) and fuses posteriorly with the superior surface of the tentorium cerebelli
Tentorium cerebelli
Attaches to petrous part of temporal bone, and the transverse sulcus of occipital bone posteriorly
Venous Drainage and CSF = dorsal venous sinuses
layers of dura matter that carry venous blood and CSF out the skull.
superior saggiata, inferior saggiata, straight , transverse, sigmoid
the superior saggital= border of fall cerebri
inferior saggiata sinus= inferior margin of falx cerebri
Straight Sinus= junction of fall cerebri and tentorium cerebella
transverse sinus= tentorium cerebella
Sigmoid= continuation of transverse sinus, passing through jugular foramen as the internal jugular vein
