The multi-store model of memory

A

Atkinson and shiffrin (1968,1971)

Stimulus - Sensory register - short term memory - long term memory

Through rehearsal and retrieval you can bring things back from your LTM and revise

Q

Types of long term memory

A
  • Episodic - our ability to recall events - a conscious effort to recall
  • semantic - less personal and more about facts we share
  • procedural - memory for actions, or skills (how we do things) - can recall without conscious awareness or much effort
