Memorising Functional Groups Flashcards
OH attached on any carbon atom of the carbon chain
Alcohol
C = O bond located on a terminal carbon
Aldehyde
C = O bond located on a non-terminal carbon
Ketone
A terminal C atom double bonded to an O atom and single bonded to an OH bond
Carboxylic acid
O atom from alcohol functional group bonded to the C atom of a carboxylic acid functional group.
Ester
NH2 single bonded to a non-terminal C atom
Amine
NH2 single bonded to a terminal C atom and has an additional O atom double bonded to this C atom
Amide
