membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis Flashcards
1
Q
what are the types of MPGN?
A
Type 1 - immune complexes or complement in subendothelium
Type 2 - dense deposit disease, complement deposits in basement membrane
Type 3 - immune complexes and complements in the subendothelial space and subepithelial space
2
Q
how is MPGN managed?
A
Type 1 - Immunosuppression, creatinine still high after 4 months = oral cyclophosphamide
Type 2 and 3 - Treat both with immunosuppression if rapidly pregressing glomerulonephritis (crescents or perforation in bowman’s space)
3
Q
what is the prognosis of MPGN?
A
Some people get better on own, need immunosuppression
