to the man [whom] he found to be the best of all the Greeks.
τούτῳ γυναῖκα
as a wife
ταύτην ἠθέλησεν (he wanted), Ἑλλήνων ἁπάντων ἐξευρὼν τὸν ἄριστον, τούτῳ γυναῖκα προσθεῖναι.
He wanted to give her as a wife to the man [whom] he found to be the best of all the Greeks.

Therefore, during the Olympic games,
ὁ Κλεισθένης, νικῶν ἐν αὐτοῖς τεθρίππῳ,
on winning in them in the four-horse chariot [event] Cleisthenes
κήρυγμα (announcement) τοῦτο ἐποιήσατο
made this announcement,
ὅστις Ἑλλήνων ἑαυτὸν ἀξιοῖ (think worthy) Κλεισθένους γαμβρὸς γενέσθαι
“Whoever of the Greeks thinks himself [worthy] to be the son in law of Cleisthenes,
ἥκέτω (let him come) εἰς Σικυῶνα
let him come to Sicyon
ὡς κυρώσοντος (will decide on) Κλεισθένους τὸν γάμον ἐν ἐνιαυτῷ.
as Cleisthenes will decide on the marriage in a year
ἐνθαῦτα ὅσοι (all those who) τῶν Ἑλλήνων
Then, all those of the Greeks who
(ἦσαν) ἑαὐτοῖς τε καὶ πάτρᾳ ἐξωγκωμένοι
who took pride in both themselves and their fatherland
ἐφοίτων (visit) μνηστῆρες·
visited as suitors.
ἐκ δὲ Ἀθηνων ἀφίκοντο
And out of the Athenians paying a visit
Μεγακλης τε ὁ Ἀλκμαιωνος
both Megacles of Alcmaeon
τοῦ παρὰ Κροῖσον ἀφικομένου
the one who paid a visit to Croesus
αὶ Ἱπποκλείδης Τισάνδρου
and Hippocleides of Tisander
πλούτῳ καὶ εἴδει
in wealth and appearance.
τῶν ἄλλων Ἀθηναίων προφέρων (excelling).
