A slow-growing mega city is a population at 70% plus urban settlement, no Squatter settlements and they are in mostly Europe, North America and south east Asia. examples of this are Tokyo, Moscow and Los Angeles.

A growing mega city has a 40 to 50% urban population and have 20% in Squatter settlements. Examples of these are Beijing, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Mexico city.

A rapid growing mega city is a mega city with a population on the 50% in urban areas and has over 20% in squatter settlements. Examples of these are Jakarta, Lagos, Mumbai, Manila.

Rurel to urban migration is the movement of people from the countryside into towns and cities

Natural increase is where the birth rate is higher than the death rate

The largest amount of Urbanisation is currently in Africa and Asia, specifically Nigeria and India. However this is also projected to increase in China, India and Nigeria in the future.

Urbanisation is decreasing in continents such as Europe, North America and South East Asia. However it is more likely to decrease in more developed cities like London in fact in England the majority of movements is urban to rural
