What new research opps do you foresee with the new Fisherman Bend campus, which was not possible previously?
Research culture
Do faculty members share equipments in the dept?
Are there frequent cross disp collaborations in the department?
Tenure
what is the tenure or promotion process like?
How is faculty performance assessed each year?
What advice would you give to a new faculty member on how to suceed in their career and in this uni?
Q and A responses
That’s a question I havent’ explored and is something that I will explore in future work
if I understand your question correctly, you are asking.
That’s a good question. I’ve never thought about it. Let me have think about it more and I will get back to you on that.
I don’t have the answer off the top of my head, but I can find out for you later..
Why should I hire you over somebody else?
I have the skills and experience to succeed in this role and that I am a great fit for this position.
My research activities are well aligned with the priorities of the dept and uni
I’m collaborative and work well with other faculty members
I will be a good citizen of the dept in helping out with the admin duties
What are your teaching plans?
To be honest, I’m very flexible….. etc.
What are your future future research plans?
In the very long term, one of my big research goal is to develop self-correcting smart foundations.
For e.g. a self correcting suction caisson foundation could activate water pumps to align it back to its acceptable position when their sensors detect that it’s tilting beyond its acceptable tolerance.
This will reduce the cost of maintenance and drive the cost of offshore foundations even lower.
We see that you have done a lot of conference papers and presentations; we have limited research funding here to support that kind of travel. How will you adapt to that?
I will collaborate with other researchers so that they could present my work to others
