define genre painting
scenes from everyday life (people, animals, touches of still life, bits of landscape, interiors )
define landscape painting
basically anything that is found in physical geography (include cityscapes, and waterscapes)
What is Fresco? (used in painitng)
a painting done rapidly in watercolor on wet plaster on a wall or ceiling, so that the colors penetrate the plaster and become fixed as it dries
Gounache (painting)
a method of painting using opaque pigments ground in water and thickened with a gluelike substance.
Synthetics (acrylic, etc.)
Tempera (painting)
a method of painting with pigments dispersed in an emulsion (water based paint) of water and egg yolk. The method was used in Europe for fine painting, mainly on wood panels, from the 12th or early 13th century until the 15th, when it began to give way to oils.

using pigments mixed with hot wax that are burned in as an inlay
