was founded in 753 B.D. then conquered a HUGE empire in 100 A.D. and built a network of roads so all ways do in fact lead to Rome
What made Meditarrenean Europe a place where population bloomed
1- mild climate
2- The sea making overseas trades easier
Where was democracy born
Greece, Athens
What is a city-state
A political unit made up of a city and it’s surrounding land.
How did the population in Greece start?
People started moving to the Balkan and built villages there, each village was on a mountain so they were seperated creating city-states.
What happened to Greece?
It started getting weaker as each city-state got in a fight with Persia. Then Athens fought with Sparta which made Greece even weaker. Finally Greece got conquered by Macedonia in 330 B.C.
What was Rome ruled by
Republic system
What is a republic
It’s when people elect someone to represent their name
Roman empire
First Rome conquered most of the Italian peninsula. Then it started conquering other oversea cities like Balkan and Iberia. It then started having a turnoil so it was ruled by an emperor who ended the republic.
Roman empire main religion
Christianity, after it conquered Palestine where Jesus was born.
How long did the eastern Roman empire last
about 1,000 years
What happened to the Mediterranean towards modern times
1- Balkan stayed part of the eastern Roman empire
2- in 1300s Italy saw the renaissance.
3- in 1400s Portugal and Spain started being discovered
Italian city-states
Italy got divided to several cities. Then when the crusades started Italy supllied crusaders with ships and other things for money. The wealth made the Italian city-states very powerful.
What are the crusades
A series of wars to steal the Muslim’s lands.
