The church became too rich and people thought this was wrong.
Things that the church had made had been proved false, undermining their reputation.

What were people with leprosy not allowed to do?
Lepers were not allowed to enter public buildings, no washing hands in public water. No sex and not allowed to touch children. They did this with most diseases and it was actually quite affective.
Why did doctors have long masks with flowers in?
They believed bad smelling air caused disease (which is slightly true) so they put flowers in their masks to dispel it.
