medicine course (nottingham specifically) Flashcards
1
Q
why do you want to study at nottingham on this course?
A
- course structure is similar to my degree now at the university of nottingham
- Research at university of nottingham
- playing sport to a high level and how this facilitates my learning
- location and community built
- due to my course also being situated in royal derby medical school, I am already used to travelling to and from derby on the hopper bus. Being used to the travel means that I know what it takes to make sure that I am at university every day i need to be even if that means waking up earlier on some days than others, which a doctor may need to become accustom to if, for example, the post they are allocated for their specialty training is not in a convenient location for them, helping me prepare for such potential hardships by helping me overcome inconveniences so that I can work towards my career goals.
I have also established familiarity with many of the people at derby campus, from lecturers to the servers at the medical school cafe. I try to form relationships with everyone I meet as I believe it is healthy to be someone who is social and that people can enjoy being around, which is important for a healthcare professional like a doctor as it means they can be easier to work with and patients are more likely to get along with them, decreasing tension and improving the doctor-patient relationship.
