What is SIADH

A

Syndrome of inappropriate ADH secretion.
Hyponatraemia 2ndry to dilutional effect of excess water retention.

Causes:
Malignancy - SCLC
Neuro - stroke, SAH, subdural, meningitis/encephalitis
Infections - TB, pneumonia
Drugs - SSRIs, gliclazide, carbamazepine

Mx: slow correction. Demeclocycline reduces the responsiveness of CT to ADH.

A

Streptococcus pyogenes

Beta haemolytic strep

Dresslers syndrome

A

2-6 weeks post MI
Fever, pericardial rub, raised ESR and pleuritic pain
Mx: NSAIDs
