- Allergic reactions
- Adjunct to epinephrine in anaphylactic shock
- Dystonic reactions to phenothiazines

Adverse Reactions
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness / sedation
- Blurring of vision
- Dry mouth
- Wheezing
- Palpations
- Hypotension
For Diphenhydramine:
Contraindictions
- Patients experiencing anticholinergic syndrome
- Narrow angle glaucoma (acute)
- MAO inhibitors
- Pregnancy
- Prostate Enlargement
- Ulcer with symptoms of obstruction

Drug Interactions
- Ethanol
- Anticholinergic drugs
- Cannot be mixed with methylprednisolone

Precautions
- Asthma (may thicken secretions)

Special Considerations
In life-threatening anaphylactic reactions epinephrine should be given as the first-line medication.

Dosing Regiem
- Adult – 25 mg IVP or 50 mg IM
- Pediatric Allergic Reactions - 1mg/kg (max dose 50mg) IVP or IM
- Pediatric Chemical Restraint - 1mg/kg (max dose 25mg) IVP or IM
