Analgesics
Analgesics are given for relief of pain. Three types of analgesics.
- Narcotic
- Antipyretic
- Anti-Inflammatory or Non-Steroid Anti-Inflammatory (NSAID)
Narcotic Analgesic
Given for acute pain. May also be habit forming in high doses over a prolonged period.
Narcotics dull the senses and are mind altering substances.

Analgesic Antipyretic
Given for mild to moderate pain and may also be used as an inflammatory.

Anticonvulsants are given for the treatment of seizures (sudden attacks of involuntary muscle contractions and relaxations which may be caused by epilepsy.
