A

Sub-labial – under the lip
Buccal – cheeks
Sublingual- under the tongue

A

Parenteral (injections) such as intravenous and intramuscular
Topical (creams and ointments)
Pulmonary (inhalation)

Why are drugs administered via different routes

A

Every patient is different- some medications may need to be absorbed faster than others (Slowest to fastest: oral -subcut - IM- IV) Also depends on patient’s tolerance e.g. if they couldn’t swallow you would consider different route other than oral
