Describe the process in filling out a valid phone order
A doctor must state the order over the phone to a nurse, they must write it down and then repeat it to another nurse who checks it against the written order. Then the doctor must sign off on it in person within 24 hours
When is it appropriate for a nurse to initiate a medication without a written order?
When it’s an approved over the counter medicine that is permitted in this way by the hospital. And that the nurse has deemed it necessary through the clinical reasoning and assessment
